Papers consist primarily of letters written by George Gordon, Lord Byron, many of which were written from Ravenna and Venice, Italy. Manuscripts, drafts, and fragments of poems; a codicil to Lord Byron's will, n.d.; checks, 1812; a letter of credit, 1809; and engravings of Byron, his friends, and family are also included. Correspondents include Percy Bysshe Shelley, Leigh Hunt, Douglas Kinnaird, Monk Lewis, Teresa Guiccioli, and many others. Manuscripts represented include FARE THEE WELL, 1816; DON JUAN canto 16, 1823; MARINO FALIERO, DOGE OF VENICE, 1820; ON PARTING, ca.1812, and others.
